nFocus - Microsoft Partner of the Year!

19/08/2014

nFocus are delighted to be announced as Microsoft’s prestigious Worldwide Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) Partner of the Year! In July nFocus travelled to Washington D.C. to pick up the award.

Quick read

The Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards recognise partners who have developed and delivered exceptional solutions during the past year. With Microsoft receiving 3,200 nominations for just 46 global awards this year, we are very proud to have been recognised for what we do best; improving software quality through ALM.

Instrumental to the tremendous win was a deployment of an integrated ALM solution to an international healthcare group. This ambitious project is projected to save the healthcare group approximately £220,000 in software testing tool licensing alone over the next three years, and provide over £50,000 a year in efficiency gains.

“This year’s award winners were among some of the best and brightest our partner ecosystem has to offer, so it came as no surprise that nFocus was included in that group as this year’s winner of the 2014 Microsoft Application Lifecycle Management Partner of the Year award,” said Phil Sorgen, corporate vice president, Worldwide Partner Group, Microsoft Corp. “We congratulate nFocus on this amazing achievement and its continued dedication to providing innovative solutions that drive results for our mutual customers.”

During July, nFocus travelled to Washington D.C. to accept the award at the Microsoft World Partner Conference (WPC) in front of over 10,000 Microsoft partners. The award recognition ceremony was recorded and available on-demand.

Danny Crone (our Technical Director) was congratulated in person by a number of Microsoft’s key executives during the trip including Phil Sorgen, Kevin Turner and most notably Satya Nadella. Danny explained, “It was an honour to meet Satya. It’s great to see someone technical back in charge at Microsoft and I was impressed with his vision. I’m expecting great things under his leadership”.

Whilst in Washington Danny was also invited to present at a Microsoft Visual Studio ALM briefing in front of an audience of practitioners. Danny presented a session on the challenges we see on a daily basis and how we’ve overcome them. He also participated in an ALM best practice panel.

nFocus awarded prestigious Microsoft Partner of the Year award

02/06/2014

nFocus selected by Microsoft as Application Lifecycle Management Partner of the Year.

Quick read

On 27th May 2014, it was announced Software Testing Consultancy nFocus had been selected by Microsoft as their Application Lifecycle Management Partner of the Year for 2014. The Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards recognise partners who have developed and delivered exceptional solutions during the past year.

In July, nFocus will travel to Washington, US to accept their award at the Microsoft World Partner Conference (WPC) in front of over 16,000 Microsoft partners, and attend an exclusive award winner reception hosted by the newly appointed CEO, Satya Nadella

nFocus provides a complete testing service; this includes a unique approach to testing within Scrum projects, Application Lifecycle Management Consultancy, Test Automation, Testing Mobile Applications and Test Resourcing.

Instrumental to nFocus’ tremendous win was their deployment of an integrated ALM solution to an international healthcare group. This ambitious project, spanning multiple geographies, resulted in the largest UK sale of Visual Studio Test Professional to date. Even more impressively, the deployment is projected to save the healthcare group approximately £220,000 in licensing alone over the next three years, and over £50,000 in efficiency gains due to simplified reporting.

Alongside deployment of the solution, nFocus worked closely with their client to set up Team Foundation Server and Microsoft Test Manager and trained their client’s entire testing team in Visual Studio Test Manager. The training course focussed on the practicalities of the tool, and following analysis of the client’s own processes, the adaptation of the tool to fit those practices.

nFocus’ approach not only accelerated the practical skills of their client’s testing team, increasing tester productivity, it also accelerated the adoption of Visual Studio company-wide.

The engagement included migrating the client’s existing data out of HP Quality Center and moving it into TFS. This approach significantly minimised the disruption to staff post-migration. nFocus’ client gave them a 95% satisfaction score.

Their commitment to exceptional customer service and the desire to remain at the cutting edge of technical expertise sealed the deal for nFocus and resulted in this prestigious award.

“We are delighted to receive this award, our team consistently strive to provide an excellent service to all of our clients and to get recognition for this from Microsoft is a proud moment for us.” Ross Lister, Managing Director, nFocus Testing.

During the conference we showcased our full range of software testing services including Application Lifecycle Management, Test Automation, Mobile App Testing and Test Resourcing services. The conference also gave us the opportunity to explain our unique approach to how testing fits within a scrum project; this was very well received. Our stand was thriving throughout all of the networking sessions; we hope this was for our interesting conversation, although we did bring along a giant popcorn machine which went down very well.

We hold in-person Meetups in the evenings at a London pub every three months. At each Meetup we have at least two brilliant presentations from thought leaders from Microsoft and the community. We also supply beer, wine and soft drinks for networking in-between the sessions. We now have over 150 members and held four very successful Meetups.

At the latest Meetup we had Colin Beales, ALM & Visual Studio Tools Specialist at Microsoft talking about incorporating testing into Visual Studio Release Management. We also had Martin Beeby, Developer Evangelist at Microsoft talking about how to test Windows 8 apps. If you would like to see the slides for this event please visit the Meetup page.
